Director of Business Operations

Mapillary is the world's fastest-growing street-level imagery platform that's available to everyone. We have built some of the world's best technology for understanding street scenes at scale, and we already power the maps that are being used by hundreds of millions of people every day. We are now looking for a remarkable Director of Business Operations as we're taking the next steps in our growth journey.

As the Director of Business Operations you will own the model and all processes for how we track towards remarkable but responsible growth. You will support cross-functional strategic priorities, deliver practical analysis and insights, and incubate new roles -- all while ensuring that the company’s fundamental operations are running smoothly. On any given day, you may find yourself digging into a new customer segment, designing business processes to scale, untangling a complex payment issue, or making our forecasting model a little more elegant. 


  • Develop and maintain company operating model and metrics (in partnership with our Data Analyst) 

    • Evaluate and monitor key initiatives and their impact

    • Tie to and track against company levers

  • Lead FP&A function across Mapillary entities (in collaboration with our Controller and our accountants) 

    • Act as the main contact person for accounting, banking, and taxation 

    • Generate monthly financials

    • Manage A/R, A/P, and expenses

    • Maintain monthly payroll throughout the organization

    • Lead the Annual Accounts process from start to finish

    • Allocate and monitor team budgets

    • Review and sign off on company financials and forecasts

  • Manage corporate processes, i.e. ensure taxes, registrations, licenses and insurances for each Mapillary entity are in good standing

  • Manage relationships with key vendors 

  • Support board and audit needs 

  • Incubate people operations role (in collaboration with our Global Benefits Manager)

    • Own hiring plan, recruiting pipeline, and onboarding/offboarding

    • Establish and execute key people operations policies (compensation, performance reviews, benefits, career development)

    • Monitor employee happiness and proactively address issues


  • You excel in analytics and problem solving

  • You enjoy doing whatever it takes to execute on complex projects

  • You work well with people across different teams with different priorities, accommodating for different time zones and work styles

  • You have a process-oriented mindset and strong attention to detail that won’t let you go past a rounding error without checking 

  • You have experience in a highly analytical and operational role in fast-paced environments (bonus points for fast-paced distributed team environments)

  • You have formal training in finance, or practical experience with accounting, or an affinity for reading company annual reports

  • You have some experience or interest in people operations
