Community Operations Manager

Maps rule the world. They inform and underpin some of the most crucial decisions that are made in society—but the world is moving so fast that maps everywhere get outdated quicker than any single player can update them. That’s where Mapillary comes in. We allow anyone, anywhere to update maps at scale, using nothing but cameras. We apply computer vision to street-level imagery to generate map data at scale, so that people and organizations everywhere can build better maps.

Now we are looking for a Community Operations Manager to help ramp up our image collection initiatives even further. You will join our Data Acquisition team who is leading Mapillary’s image collection efforts across different contributor segments. This role will lead the strategy and execution of our engagement efforts from our individual contributors.

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for managing the planning and day-to-day operations of retention strategies. Coordinate such strategies with Marketing, Customer Success, and Product.

  • Provide insights to the rest of the company that help us understand the community segment. This will be achieved by user research and data analysis. Community insights and feedback will need to be shared with the rest of the team.

  • Own the day-to-day communication with the community and build a long lasting relationship with our core community members

  • Ensure outward conversation aligns with brand messaging, tone of voice and Mapillary values

  • Monitor and report on community health metrics

  • Promotes and evangelize community activities internally


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred

  • Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels.  Shape the community strategy as well as roll up sleeves, experiment with different approaches, measure, learn, and iterate

  • 2+ years experience in community management/marketing/similar operations to delivering successful engagement strategies

  • Analytical thinker and comfortable with working with data and experience in data-driven decision making

  • Excellent communication: verbal and written

  • Entrepreneurial self-starter — you naturally take ownership, look for opportunities, and do whatever it takes to drive results

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment with a bias towards action. You are able to prioritize the highest impact projects and execute well under pressure.

  • Educational and/or professional experience in the geospatial industry is highly valued, but not essential
